ARTIST STATEMENT

“I am initially attracted to an outdoor scene, interior vignette or still life by the interplay of color and light. It is my intention to pull the viewer in to the setting, causing a subsequent desire to enter the scene. My eye is excited by the subtle yet sensuous play of color, light and shape and it is my hope to convey this emotion to the viewer.”

MEDIA - Oils and Soft Pastels on canvas, paper, and board.

As far back as I can remember I have been in love with art.  It was always my favorite subject in school and followed me throughout my life.  After teaching grade school art for several years I began to yearn to have all the fun my students were having. I decided to follow a different path.  I began taking workshops both locally and internationally with accomplished and inspirational artists.  The landscape calls to me and plein air painting in particular.  The entire experience captivates all of my senses and I hope to convey that connection to the viewer.  Color and light are my passions and they continually change, making the painting experience exhilerating. Come feel that emotion with me.  ~ Audrey
